To start it out, I recently received this handy and indispensable item for a Christmas present this year (the joys of a wishlist). The Hood loupe 3.0 is put out by Hoodman at hoodmanusa.com it is a loupe that hangs around your neck and allows you to view in any light your LCD screen on the back of your camera.

It is designed for a 3” screen and covers my 2.5” screen with more room to spare, so I’m sure it would cover a 3” screen with ease. The +-3 diopter lets you get a good look and lets you insure that you got your shot before you get home and view it on your computer ( I know you have thought that you had a shot only to find out that you didn’t ). The quality of this is very good and built to take a beating. It comes with a lanyard that you can put around your neck to get it out of the way when your shooting but handy when you need it. The lanyard also has a quick release so you can detach it to let your fellow photographer use it as a nice gesture.

The only thing I’ve found wrong with the package is the protective storage case that is included. It doesn’t allow you to put the loupe in while it is extended and the nice lanyard has to be tucked all over the place to get it to fit right.

That said, for the price it is well worth coming away from a shot knowing that you have it on the card.

Mackinac Bridge (lakeside cemetery)

Both areas are open but please be respectful in the cemetery. The bridge view park is closed to car traffic during the winter but you still can walk down to the water.
